Project Highlights
- Provides ongoing technical review, strategic planning, and regulatory support for soil and groundwater remediation at a Superfund site.
- Supports soil remediation using soil vapor extraction and dual-phase extraction technologies to address solvent contamination.
- Designs a full-scale groundwater extraction and treatment system with an estimated total extraction capacity of 1,000 gallons per minute.
Project Description
The Omega Chemical Site project involves ongoing environmental remediation at a Superfund site where historic solvent contamination has affected both soil and groundwater. Services include technical peer review, strategic remediation planning, preparation of regulatory work plans and deliverables, and engineering support for the continued development of long-term cleanup solutions.
Soil remediation includes soil vapor extraction and dual-phase extraction to address areas impacted primarily by perchloroethylene (PCE) and other solvents. Groundwater containment efforts are also underway through groundwater extraction and treatment.
Our current work includes the permitting and design of a full-scale groundwater extraction and treatment system to support long-term containment and remediation. The planned system includes seven large-diameter extraction wells with an estimated combined capacity of 1,000 gallons per minute, along with collection piping, a groundwater treatment facility, and discharge infrastructure designed to provide flexibility for changing site conditions.
