Project Description

The Robbins Flood Control and Stormwater Park Program is focused on reducing flooding along Midlothian Creek from 139th Street to the Metra-Rock Island tracks while improving stormwater management and supporting long-term community redevelopment. The program combines flood mitigation infrastructure, stormwater storage, creek improvements, and a new stormwater park to provide 100-year flood protection and improve flood resiliency throughout the Village of Robbins, IL.

The project team provided multidisciplinary engineering, environmental, planning, construction support, and public involvement services. Work included updating hydraulic and hydrologic models, evaluating flood control alternatives, completing Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, and addressing contaminated soil management and disposal requirements. The team also supported construction through Request for Information (RFI) and submittal reviews, environmental permitting, and public information efforts.

Urban planning services identified future development opportunities that are compatible with flood mitigation goals while supporting the Village’s long-term needs. The program is expected to remove approximately 1,300 properties from the floodplain, protect 92 structures, expand recreational opportunities, and support continued economic growth in Robbins.
