- Reconstructed five pump stations and installed a new gravity pipeline using horizontal directional drilling.
Project Description
The Wastewater System Improvements project modernized Salishan’s wastewater treatment facilities by converting the existing extended aeration treatment plant to a state-of-the-art membrane bioreactor (MBR) treatment system. The upgrade improved treatment efficiency, increased system reliability, and positioned the facility to meet current and future wastewater demands.
The project included the installation of new screening equipment, rehabilitation of the existing flow equalization and biosolids storage basins, and demolition and reconstruction of the mechanical and control buildings. Existing treatment basins were repurposed to accommodate a Kubota flat-plate membrane filtration system, providing updated treatment capabilities within the existing facility.
Additional improvements included the reconstruction of five pump stations as duplex submersible facilities and installation of a new 8-inch gravity pipeline using horizontal directional drilling. Together, these improvements modernized critical wastewater infrastructure, improved operational reliability, and supported the facility’s long-term capacity and performance.
