Project Description

The Shootaring Canyon Mill reclamation project focused on developing an engineering approach for the long-term closure and reclamation of a tailings storage facility and impoundment. The geotechnical team provided specialized engineering services to support the development of a stable, environmentally responsible final condition for the site.

The project included the design of a liner and collection system for the tailings impoundment area, along with a final cover system to support long-term reclamation and site closure. These improvements were designed to manage the tailings area and support the overall reclamation strategy while addressing the site’s geotechnical and environmental considerations.

The team prepared the necessary design documents and technical information to support the permitting process and regulatory review. The completed engineering package was submitted to the Utah Department of Environmental Quality in support of the project’s permit application, providing the documentation needed to advance the reclamation plan and move the project toward long-term closure.
